Comics
This site features editorial cartoons I draw for the Grand Rapids Business Journal and panel comics I draw for the Grand Rapids Family magazine. These publications are part of the Gemini Publications group, which is based in West Michigan. Follow the links to subscribe!

My cartoons have been stuck on refrigerators, office cubicles, and bulletin boards — the highest award a cartoonist can hope for. I have drawn comics for various newspapers, magazines, companies, and websites. My editorial cartoons have appeared in the “Best Editorial Cartoons of the Year” compilations by Pelican Publishing Company Inc. I am a member of the Association of American Editorial Cartoonists. In April 2002, I had a gallery show at the Weston Theatre and Gallery in Grand Rapids entitled, “I Love West Michigan! …but I Sure Have a Funny Way of Showing It.

Personal
I have the complete inability to eat a salad without getting all sorts of stuff stuck in between my teeth…. (Oh, not that personal.) Born in Pennsylvania, raised in South Carolina and Michigan, I started drawing comics when I was eight-years-old. I’m married now (to my high-school sweetheart), have three beautiful children, two needy cats, and a technical communications consulting business, but can still be found more often than not hunched over my drawing table.

Education
I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Scientific and Technical Communications with a minor in Metallurgical Engineering from Michigan Technological University. This would be the proverbial “road less traveled” to a career in cartooning.

Quote
Everybody can draw. I am living proof of this. Through practice and a willingness to take chances, I have taken a seed of meager artistic talent and grown it into a flourishing hibiscus of meager artistic talent.

I no longer have the glasses, shirt, or hair, but otherwise I’m pretty much the same.
