Last week, a West Michigan lawmaker proposed legislation for a 2014 ballot proposal to eliminate state income tax. You can click here for the particulars, but it really doesn’t get more thought-out than what I wrote. This sort of deep cynicism can only be met with even deeper sarcasm.

    Oh I don’t know about “idiot.” I doubt he came up with the idea himself. This has the looks of a floater idea designed at a higher level to (1) start the process of making it a legitimate option and (2) deflect attention away from other, less electable issues. The thing that gets me is the completely nonplussed reaction to concerns about the, oh, $9 billion whole in the budget. “Ah, some sort of sales tax I guess. Whatever.” This from the party of fiscal responsibility?
