Buy the Saturday Grand Rapids Press…

Good cartooning news! Starting tomorrow, I will be doing a weekly editorial for the Grand Rapids Press. The folks down at the Press are trying to give the editorial page of their Saturday edition a decidedly local/state issues angle, so they wanted a local/state editorial cartoon. (Hey! That’s me! I can do that!)

I dunno how this will all play out in the online world, so here’s what you need to do: tomorrow, go buy a newspaper. (And this will work out best if you buy a Grand Rapids Press newspaper.) Read it. Enjoy it. Subscribe to it. In fact, while you are out and about, pick up a Grand Rapids Family magazine — they’re free. Then come Monday, that’s right, back to the newstand for your Grand Rapids Business Journal.  Then start a new publication with the name “Grand Rapids” in it and decide it needs cartoons!!! (Okay, getting a little carried away now….)

Kind of a long way for a paper. 🙂

Congratulations John. That’s great! As Pinky would say “next stop, the WORLD!”…

John, I still following your cartooning with interest. In the book your autographed for me when you were a tech writer with thermotron, you wrote” I hope your as good a prophet as you are a printer”. This was in regards to me reading Fencetamacker cartoons and telling you that someday you would be successful as a catoonist. Well! Your almost there, your a great gentleman and I pulling for you. I noticed your cartoon last Saturday in the G.R Press and thought it was very funny, while making a valid point. At that time I was wishing to see more and now I see from your site I will. Great John. Dan Van Dyke, Exact Graphics Printing.

Thanks for the encouragement and kind words, Dan! Yep, still working at it — still happy to be drawing. All those years ago when I was that young, bald kid at Thermotron with a dream! (Now I’ve long since left Thermotron, a bit older, but still bald.) Hope you are well!
