And then sometimes it just feels right to vent about personal (although I’m sure shared) experiences….

I remember reading that little tidbit in the driver’s handbook when I was 16. I have only seen it in practice in the UK. Here the “passing lane” is regarded as the “fast lane” except “fast” is subjective. Beware of old men in hats…

Thanks for your extremely relevant cartoon. I clipped this out of my Grand Rapids Press and am going to blow it up and hang it on my car window. I’m certainly not an advocate of driving above the posted speed limits but if you do want to drive slower then by all means just get over to the right. Of course, it also would help if it was mandatory that driving while talking on a cell phone required driving in the right lane.

Yes, definitely. If she had lived into her 100s I believe my grandmother’s driving advice would now be, “Beware of old men in hats …and anybody on a cell phone.”

Ugh… and it is not just a Michigan thing!! What’s funny… I’ve heard others exclaim that it is worse here in Pacific Northwest than anywhere they’ve been. I was beginning to think the same until I was back in GR for a recent visit!!

So Grand Rapids is both Beer City USA and the Capital of Passing Lane Camping. …I really hope these are not related.
